Passion, Accountability: How RoadRunner Day Embodied Our Core Values

Under blue skies and sunscreen armor, hundreds of RoadRunner employees pored through fields, trails, and forest to help make the company’s hometown of Pittsburgh, PA a little greener. RoadRunner Day is an annual celebration of the hard work team members put in each and every day. It’s an event that offers a look back at how far we’ve come on this green journey together and a recognition that what we do is far greater than waste and recycling.

It’s an event that offers a look back at how far we’ve come on this green journey together and a recognition that what we do is far greater than waste and recycling.    This summer was a little different in that it offered an in-person element for those employees who wished to take part and a virtual element for those who couldn’t travel to the company’s headquarters in Pittsburgh. The day was a smashing success with a nod to our values as an enterprise and our mission to work For the Greener Good™.

What We Learned While Volunteering At South Park

On RoadRunner Day 2019 we volunteered at South Park, one of the nine parks operated by Allegheny County. We spent the day clearing foliage to make room for plant & vegetation growth, picking up litter, and we learned a whole lot along the way.   Although our company is rooted in recycling, it’s important to all of us at RoadRunner that we give back to our local communities & the causes we believe in. On RoadRunner Day 2019 (RoadRunner's fifth anniversary) we volunteered at South Park, one of the nine parks operated by Allegheny County. We spent the day clearing foliage to make room for plant & vegetation growth, picking up 40+ bags of litter, and we learned a whole lot along the way.   THERE HAS TO BE A BETTER WAY A MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER by Graham Rihn   There has to be a better way. We all want something better. A better way to store files; a better way to run payroll; a better way to find a ride home. These moments of wanting something better are what inspire, or fulfill, big ideas and transformational products. My desire for “a better way” involves recycling.
